About Dr. Saiz

Personal Statement - Cristina Saiz Rodriguez, MD

I came to the Institute for Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery drawn by the admiration towards the work of Dr. Lucente and Dr. Murphy.

After I completed my residency training at America’s largest public hospital (University of Miami/Jackson Memorial) I decided to stay there for several years as an Assistant Clinical Professor for the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department. This opportunity allowed me not only to learn from the challenging situations encountered in such a large institution but also to mentor medical students and residents. I always enjoyed spending time in the operating room but it was not until I realized how the challenging surgical procedures seen in the field of Urogynecology made a dramatic improvement in a patient’s quality of life that I decided to follow this career path.

I was amazed with the understanding of pelvic anatomy and physiology that the Urogynecologists have and how they can apply this to change someone’s life. The patients often describe that after undergoing treatment they are able to regain control of their life. Such a dramatic statement is only understood when you have become close to the patients and are able to see how much they suffer due to these conditions. I am thrilled to be part of this subspecialty and be able to help women recover their health and well-being.
